What You Will Be Doing

  • Conduct visual, mechanical, and functional inspections, analysis, and testing of incoming materials to ensure compliance with company specifications and industry standards.

  • Utilize specialized instruments and measurement tools to evaluate a wide range of components and raw materials.

  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including inspection records, data entry, and reports for management.

  • Support audits, surveys, and certification processes by collecting and providing relevant data.

  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); recommend and implement process improvements.

  • Handle hazardous materials with care, adhering to special handling requirements.

  • Travel between IDEXX facilities in Portland, Westbrook, and Scarborough to perform inspections as needed.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Education & Experience

    • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.

    • Prior experience in quality assurance or inspection is beneficial.

  • Skills & Abilities

    • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and detailed instructions.

    • Proficient in operating complex measurement instruments and selecting appropriate inspection methods.

    • Excellent documentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Solid understanding of industry-standard sampling plans and inspection protocols.

    • Basic math proficiency, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and graph interpretation.

    • Skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Physical & Environmental Requirements

    • Ability to stand, sit, reach, and perform repetitive bench work for extended periods.

    • Visual acuity including close vision, color differentiation, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

    • Must wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear.

    • Work may occur in warehouse or laboratory environments with exposure to biohazard materials.

  • Work Style

    • Semi-skilled role with room for judgment and creativity within established procedures.
