Airgas is Hiring for a Field Service Technician in Portsmouth, Va!

We are looking for you !

  • $27/Hr

  • Safety Bonus UP TO $2,000/yr!

  • Monday-Friday schedule with the occasional weekend. Shift starts at 7:30am

  • Will service the Eastern part of Virginia with possible travel 1 time a month out of state

  • CDL B truck will be used

Our field Service technician will install and service new and existing Bulk CO2 tanks in a safe manner in accordance with all federal/state/county/local codes and Airgas policies.

  • Responsible for the safe and accurate loading/unloading and transporting of CO2 products for servicing. Including but not limited to; climbing 14 ft ladders, operating battery and electric power tools. Maneuvering equipment up to 500 lbs with a hand truck and ability to work overhead regularly. Obtains required signatures from customers as needed.

  • Ability to travel 25%-50% of the time within the region including layovers with 1-2 weeks prior notice. When travel is expected, Airgas will pay for any hotel accommodations, flights or car rentals. All ANC trucks are day cabs, there is no expectancy for layovers in sleeper cabs.

  • Typical shift is Monday-Friday with the ability to be on call some weekends.

  • Installs C02 bulk installations at both Airgas facilities and customer sites

  • Analyze and make general repairs and maintenance of new and existing Bulk C02 systems.

  • Install decals and warning signs for the proper identification of hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings, emergency contacts, etc.

  • Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to repair typical installations operated by the hub.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years old

  • Have a Class A or B CDL with at least 1 year CMV experience- experience must be withinthe last 4 years & tanker/hazmat endorsements are required before hire date.

  • Graduation from an accredited truck driving school with diploma will count as 1 year ofrequired experience

  • No preventable accidents of any kind in the last 3 years

  • No more than 2 minor tickets in the last 3 years.

  • No suspensions of CDL in the last 3 years

  • No DUI in the last 7 years

  • Must be able to lift 60 lbs. or more.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read blueprints and design specifications, manufacturer drawings, architectural drawings related to bulk delivery sites associated with customer installations.

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations

  • Have a basic understanding of hand tools and how they are used

  • Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of any specialty gas is a plus.
