Seasonal (Seasonal) To be considered for this specialist adder, must be employed as a Solitude Ski Patroller Avalanche Mitigation Technician Specialist Appointment Type: Full Time Seasonal Overview: This is a non-supervisory position that will be responsible for a wide variety of mountain operations. The position involves a significant amount of field work. The Avalanche Mitigation Technician Specialist reports directly to the Director of Patrol, Avalanche Mitigation Manager, Avalanche Mitigation Assistant Supervisor, and Patrol Manager. This position requires strong interpersonal relationship skills. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Solitude Ski Patrol Union. Key requirements: Must be employed as a Solitude Mountain Patroller Avalanche Pro 1 certification required 4 years ski patrol experience preferred 3 years of avalanche mitigation experience at a class "A" resort preferred Strong communication and leadership skills Strong understanding of Solitude operations Expert avalanche rescue skills Ski Patrol level 2 or above Duties: Assists in the training and documentation of ski patrollers in avalanche rescue, mitigation techniques, and explosive use Conducts inventories and maintains explosive caches according to resort policy and ATF regulation Assists in forecasting future trends and current levels of avalanche danger and mitigating avalanche hazards Collects and documents field data on snow, weather and avalanche conditions Assists in decisions determining the opening and closing of terrain based on avalanche hazard forecasts Maintains and installs aerial trams and shot cables resort wide Maintains and installs avalanche closure rope lines and signage Assists the setup and tear down of remote weather stations Able to lead an avalanche hasty team Assists in inter-agency rescue efforts in fluid complex situations Prepared to interface with complex off premises rescues with Wasatch Backcountry Rescue Job description is not inclusive of all responsibilities and may be modified as deemed necessary by operational needs.
