You're a natural connector who thrives at the intersection of hospitality and event execution. You understand that great events and great service are built on the smallest details and the biggest gestures. You lead from the floor, building confidence in your team while creating memorable experiences for guests. You thrive equally in structured event settings, casual rooftop activations, or lively restaurant service. You bring an entrepreneurial spirit, able to pivot between banquet execution, restaurant operations, and lifestyle programming across outlets. You balance being tactical and hands-on with being strategic and collaborative. Guests, associates, and partners look to you as a trusted host who brings Kansas City's story to life.


THE ROLE

As the Food + Beverage Events Captain, you will serve as a leader across events, restaurant outlets, and lifestyle activations. You will coordinate and execute private events, assist F+B operations as needed, and support the integration of programming such as live music, art shows, private dinners, tastings, and pop-ups into the guest experience.

You will partner closely with the Director of Lifestyle, Restaurant Managers, Culinary, Sales Team and Guest Services to ensure every event or activation - large or small - meets Aparium's standard of excellence.

You will also actively develop trusting and transparent relationships with your peers on the service team and other associates of the hotel. WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Uphold and model the company's principles of People, Place and Character by being proud of who you are, where you come from and who we serve at our hotel

* Be collaborative with your co-workers and leaders and use your intuition to fix things when you know they are not right or could be better

* Be a storyteller of the history of the Crossroads Hotel and share our translocal hospitality efforts about our local collaborators and partners

* Lead or assist with the execution of events, private dining, and special activations; review BEOs, coordinate with culinary, and ensure timely and flawless setups.

* Support daily restaurant service with presence and hands-on service.

* Partner with F+B leadership to bring lifestyle programming to life across outlet - ensuring seamless execution of live music, art partnerships, culinary collaborations, classes, and other cultural activations.

* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness standards across outlets and event spaces.

* Maintain knowledge of all programming calendars to confidently engage with Associates and guests.

* Partner with Lifestyle to update event calendars and communicate with collaborators

* Support F+B managers with inventories.

* Act as a liaison between Lifestyle, Banquets, Culinary, Restaurant Outlets, Sales/Events and Guest Services to ensure fluid communication and guest satisfaction.

* Jump in when needed - whether resetting a space, heavy lifting for your peers or guests, or greeting VIPs.


HOW YOU WILL LEAD

* Collaborate across all hotel departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

* Demonstrate flexibility and agility to support both structured banquet and restaurant operations and fluid, lifestyle-driven programming.

* Guide associates in event setup, ensuring they understand not only technical steps but also the cultural stories that bring our outlets and events to life.

* Show strong computer savvy, aligning service standards with operational goals, budgets, and guest expectations.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED

* Passion for food, beverage, events, and the culture of our community.

* Previous experience in working in high-volume restaurants and/or event venues

* Strong knowledge of restaurant and banquet operations; confident navigating between both.

* Experience with lifestyle programming (live music, cultural activations, tastings, etc.) strongly preferred.

* Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

* Ability to obtain / maintain Liquor Card and Food Handler's certifications within 30 days of hire.

* Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and event-driven demands.

* Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

* Continuous standing and walking and negotiating wet tile floor and steps

* Fine motor coordination is needed

* Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time

* Lifting and carrying heavy loads

* Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous

* Carrying over shoulder is occasional

* Excellent sight and balance needed for negotiating varied floor surfaces.

* Ability to lift, balance and carry (with assistance) up to 100 lbs. to transport stage rigging, equipment, etc.

* Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10*F) and kitchens (+110*F)
