Job Purpose:

Lead and manage New Model or Business Plan project activities through strategy, planning, communications, and execution to achieve project, department, and plant Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale (SEQDCM) objectives and targets.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and manage department A00's and strategies to achieve overall plant targets and improve manufacturing characteristics while developing new model.
  • Develop and coordinate (manage) the overall Specified Action Plan (SAP) to ensure all New Model (NM) and project activities are executed as required to achieve project milestones and targets.
  • Create and summarize all new model project evaluation materials (i.e. E-Flow, QAV, 5-step) that meet the requirements of the plant evaluations to gain project approval.
  • Review new model drawing, generate new model CRF's and support new model genba activity as needed to reduce investment and improve manufacturing characteristics. Manage new model or mass production design changes to understand impact to department.
  • Test, evaluate and implement new and innovative technologies to drive continuous process and equipment improvements through new model flow. Ensure new or modified equipment or processes meet all required specifications and standards at new model mass pro start up.
  • Plan and execute new model build events through correlation with internal and external groups to assure new model processes, quality, associate training, and equipment maturation. Utilizing PDCA through the build event process and new model mass pro start up.
  • Create and manage new model investment and expense budgets to achieve overall project cost target and future operating costs.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related job experience (high speed, mechanical related manufacturing)
  • 2-6 years of applicable experience with quality specifications, Honda quality systems, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to review and analyze part drawings, technical documents, and reports for change points and specification related characteristics and understanding the impact to Assembly manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Capable of communicating with all levels of associates and suppliers related to the technical aspects of the new model project
  • Must have demonstrated strong problem solving/root cause analysis skills
  • Capable of leading and mentoring multiple associates
  • Capable of delivering meeting information to diverse groups of associates including production associates and engineers
  • Must have a functional understanding of engines and extensive knowledge of potential process quality knowledge vs product quality knowledge that can be caused from equipment or associate interaction with the parts
  • Ability to effectively communicate desired line characteristics of our products to all levels of associates
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to design, procure, verify, and conduct trials for effectiveness without supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • 5-10 hours overtime weekly, weekends, shutdowns
  • Travel - Domestic/International
  • Manufacturing environment - high-paced manufacturing can be stressful to work in
