Chapman's Finance Law Development Program is designed for college graduates interested in finance and the law and seek to gain comprehensive work experience before pursuing law school or another advanced degree.
Our two-year, salaried program gives individuals an opportunity to work on deal teams, side by side with Chapman attorneys and other professionals. This work involves collaborating with Chapman lawyers to conduct research, prepare documentation, and facilitate the closing of a wide range of transaction types. Chapman's clients include all of the largest U.S. banks, several of the largest foreign banks, and many of the country's largest investment banks, insurance and investment companies, and private equity and hedge funds. Throughout the two-year program, individuals will engage with different practice groups within the Firm and gain an in-depth understanding of the type of work we do - from bond issues for municipalities and state governments, to the issuance of privately placed debt in the capital markets, to a wide range of commercial lending transactions with banks, funds, and finance companies. As part of this program, individuals will have opportunities to work with our Practice Innovations team, assisting in the deployment and integration of new technologies to advance the efficiency of the delivery of legal services. Our Practice Innovations team works alongside attorneys to improve workflows, create innovative pricing and value proposals, and apply new technologies to advance collaboration with clients. Following the successful completion of the program, individuals who wish to pursue a law degree may be eligible for scholarships and other financial assistance. Program participants choosing not to attend law school may be offered other opportunities within Chapman or with Chapman clients.
