As a Project Manager within Johnson Controls Strategic Accounts, you will support our strategic account team to maximize sales and profitability. This is achieved through the development, deployment, and support of enterprise-level sales while overseeing the efficient execution of projects and initiatives.
Support the development and execution of Johnson Controls enterprise-wide engineering standards, processes, and implementation methods for strategic accounts. Design, develop, and support solutions that streamline our strategic account business, accurately report on growth, and develop business opportunities. Aid in the development of strategic initiatives and enterprise-level estimates for strategic account opportunities. Develop and maintain high-level relationships with customers. Assist and advise on standard designs, implementation goals, and deployment strategies. Communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction. Collaborate closely with the customer and Johnson Controls corporate, enterprise, regional, and branch teams to align with defined strategies. Implement standard design requirements and processes within the organization. Leverage existing business analytics or specify the development of KPIs for internal and external customer performance, including project schedule compliance, customer satisfaction, and cost performance. Provide periodic updates to leadership and key stakeholders. Utilize Johnson Controls communication platforms and maintain content for the efficient transfer of design standards to sales, engineering, and field organizations. Focus on standardization to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance. Maintain expertise in various building domains, business verticals, and Johnson Controls processes and tools. Provide subject matter expertise in building technology, including Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), estimating, project planning, continuous commissioning, connected workflows, and back-office efficiency. Instill quality in all solutions delivered and ensure compliance with contractual and corporate standards.
How you will do it
Coordinate Johnson Controls' product and technology roadmap with strategic customers' technology vision. Align customer requirements and engineering specifications with Johnson Controls offerings, including Equipment, Controls, Digital, Fire, and Security. Work with strategic customer stakeholders, including engineering, construction, and mechanical firms, to embed Johnson Controls as the basis of design into requirements and specifications. Communicate critical activities, resources, and timelines. Collaborate across multiple Johnson Controls business domains to develop innovative project delivery and process execution methods that meet customer expectations. Support the development and maintenance of design documentation for all aspects of enterprise-level standards deployment, including project scheduling, billing, hardware engineering design documentation, sequence of operations, and commissioning. Keep documentation and data updated and accessible. Ensure consistency and standard practices across the enterprise by working across various engineering/design teams and locations while optimizing engineering efficiency. Provide sales and high-level technical support to the field organization for the implementation of enterprise-level initiatives and engineered solutions. Become highly knowledgeable about customers' design and implementation strategies. Attend design and project meetings to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction. Collaborate with Strategic Account Management to facilitate regular performance reviews with all key stakeholders. Lead and train multi-disciplined technical, subcontractors, and administrative personnel to resolve engineering, administrative, and field issues during project implementation and installation. Mentor technical and project team members on effective project management practices and foster a continuous improvement environment. Negotiate with customers for additional business and pursue new opportunities for contract revenue growth. Direct proposal efforts for program growth or new opportunities. Coordinate with local project leadership and project management consultants to address project execution issues like delays, change orders, liquidated damages, and subcontractor performance. Support the field installation and service organizations in resolving escalated program or project-related issues. Develop an internal network of support across various organizational levels to aid in customer issue resolution. Collaborate with the quality team to evaluate and resolve quality issues.
What we look for
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in engineering, science, construction, project management, business administration, or related fields. 10+ years of experience in program and project management. Strong interpersonal skills. 5 to 7 years of direct experience in projects/program management and/or program administration within the construction, building solutions, or technology industries. Strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytic skills. An individual prepared to partner with the global enterprise account manager in supporting and growing an enterprise strategic account for Johnson Controls. Certifications such as ASIS CCP, PMI, PMP, or equivalents are desired. Proven capabilities as a team leader with supervisory experience in managing large integrated projects and programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent documentation and organizational skills; detail-oriented with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities. Highly motivated and results-oriented. Able to communicate clearly and lead by influence, working effectively in a matrixed organization. Experience with Johnson Controls back-office systems (IBS, Salesforce, NxGen), construction management software (eBuilder), and commissioning platforms (CWd, CxAlloy) is a plus. Willingness to travel up to 30%.
