Position Overview

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

NOTE:This position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment beyond the fiscal year is contingent upon continued funding.

Position Summary:
The Data Research Analyst supports research, analysis, and institutional effectiveness efforts at ENMU-Roswell by collecting, entering, analyzing, and reporting data. The role involves preparing reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies and contributing to institutional planning and decision-making. This position reports to the Institutional Research Analyst.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contact alumni and current students to collect information on career outcomes, transfer status, education, employment, and other data points. Record, analyze, and report findings to GPS and other institutional stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of state and federal reports, including but not limited to submissions for NM Higher Education Department, Higher Learning Commission (HLC), College Board, IPEDS, and NMACC.
  • Support report generation by gathering, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data for both internal and external use.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide data and analysis to internal programs and departments for program and service area reviews.
  • Fulfill internal and external ad hoc data requests as needed.
  • Serve on university committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Training Within First Year of Employment:
  • Gain proficiency in preparing and submitting data files for NM eDEAR, IPEDS, AGA, Perkins, and other reporting agencies.
  • Complete Ellucian Banner/SIG training to understand system functionality and database structures.
  • Attend Argos training to build queries and construct data blocks.
  • Learn to create and present audience-friendly reports and dashboards.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree.
  • One year of experience in data analysis related work.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years of experience in data analytics or related field.
  • Knowledge of governmental reporting process.
  • Knowledge or experience in using Ellucian Banner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting data clearly to various audiences.
  • Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.

Working Conditions

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.(e.g., classroom materials, demonstration tools)
  • Moderate noise level typical of an office environment.
  • Occasional travel for state or national conferences, professional development, and inter-campus meetings.
