Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Business Improvement Manager to join our team based in Grand Prairie, TX.

In this role, you will be in charge of leading transverse Support and Services (S&S) Business Improvement and performance-driven approach, with the objective to achieve company targets and boost operational performance,

Your Challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

Continuous improvement / LEAN across S&S domains: 30%

  • Lead of S&S end-to-end process optimization to drive enterprise transformation

  • Foster continuous improvement mindset and animate continuous improvement network and initiatives across S&S

  • Lead and deploy LEAN practices (5S, VSM, standard agenda...) in all the S&S domains, including the Airbus Operating System (AOS) deployment

  • Generate, identify, and measure opportunities for improvements initiatives including identification of action leverages, risk and management issues of proposed changes, business case creation, financial analysis and viability

  • Lead and drive the progress and performance improvement network, deploy and maintain the level of control of activities

  • Build and manage yearly LEAN and continuous improvement deployment plan execution (including management practices and ImpAct)

  • Lead operational and improvement teams to build and execute their Continuous Improvement plans, focusing on business priorities, performance, customers and employees irritants

  • Provide methodological support, training and coaching upon function / domain requests on LEAN standards, methods and tools

S&S End-to-End process: 30%

  • Manage S&S transformation projects in connection with performance improvement

  • Design and lead processes to drive enterprise transformation initiatives from concept to realized value, including innovation & digitalization

  • Optimize business processes to achieve more efficient results including establishing standard processes and best practices

  • Lead the end-to-end S&S processes reviews to achieve performance-driven approach

  • Build up and implement the S&S processes reviews plan based on prioritization validated with Stakeholders and senior Leadership

  • Animate workshops to map as-is processes, to identify pain points and to define to-be process with involved stakeholders across the Company

  • Define associated SIPOC and measurements KPIs

  • Document the updated processes and secure upload and storage in Company repository

  • Monitor the adherence to the defined processes on the long-term

  • Lead continuous revision of the processes as required and maintain up-to-date documentation

S&S Transformation projects: 30%

  • Function as a project manager with overall responsibility for the successful planning, tracking and execution of multiple, simultaneous, and medium to large complex projects

  • Evaluate and measure the evolution of economic and operational performance of potential projects

  • Work closely with the Executive Committee and senior leadership and their teams to develop and execute improvement plans, with objective to deliver results of improved efficiencies, cost savings, growth, and ROI

  • Foster continuous improvement using Airbus' core values while ensuring accountability, focus, strategic alignment, lean metrics and focused process with key process owners and stakeholders using prioritized data-driven goals and objectives

  • Communicate with stakeholders and leadership on progress of improvement initiatives

  • Support the business in investigating innovative solutions to improve internal efficiency and performance

  • Continuously benchmark and track for further improvement opportunities

S&S Performance Management: 10%

  • Lead S&S performance management including data analysis to support problem solving, improvement identification and decision-making

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement and innovation that values learning and a commitment to quality

  • Gather and analyze available data to support improvement proposals and decision-making

  • Identify data quality issues as part of the end-to-end process and propose corrective actions

  • Lead the implementation of data quality corrective/preventive actions

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial engineering, project management, business development, or similar related field or equivalent

  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in Aviation/Aerospace Industry

  • Strong experience in project and change management using LBIP+ or DMAIC

  • Extensive experience as Lean Expert in various functions

  • Structured, rigorous, synthetic, presentation skills

  • 20% Domestic and International travel

  • Authorized to work in the US, Able to work in the US without current or future need for Visa sponsorship.

Preferred Education and Skills:

  • Master's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial engineering, project management, business development, or similar related field or equivalent

  • Six (6)+ years experience of extensive LEAN leadership , with a medium or large company

  • Working experience in:

-- Support & Services activities, such as Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) or Logistics organization

-- LEAN manufacturing/continuous process improvement and change management (LSS or TPS)

-- Process improvement

  • Lean six sigma green/black belt

  • Strong experience in project and change management using LBIP+ or DMAIC

  • Extensive experience as Lean Expert in various functions

  • Proficiency in Visio or similar process mapping software

  • Proficiency in SAP

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 60% except when on travel.
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Daily
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Daily
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Daily
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Infrequently
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approx 5% - 10%
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
