Patch Management Technician

We are looking for a detail-oriented Patch Management Technician to play a key role in maintaining the security, compliance, and stability of Silgan's large-scale enterprise environment. In this role, you will manage both server and client patch deployments, ensuring alignment with defined cybersecurity and IT infrastructure standards while proactively addressing medium to critical threats. You will oversee and track all patching efforts, schedule and maintain system maintenance windows, and collaborate closely with teams across Security, Applications, Infrastructure, and Business Management to coordinate deployments. This position also involves creating and refining operational procedures to improve patching success rates, assisting with reporting and communication, and analyzing trends to identify and prevent potential errors across all Windows, Linux, and Unix environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, technical expertise in patch management and enterprise security, and a proactive mindset to ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and compliant.

What you will do:

  • Maintain "Best in Class" practices for enterprise patch management and deployment.
  • Identify and document operational procedures and best practices in accordance with patch management strategy.
  • Ensure service levels for server uptime through patch management standards.
  • Employ continual service improvement through monthly metrics reviews.
  • Analyze trend data to proactively identify potential patch-related issues.
  • Communicate patch management processes, procedures, working practices, and changes to internal teams and business stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain enterprise patch maintenance windows with the business.
  • Develop processes to streamline patch operations and improve delivery times.
  • Provide technical support and consultation as needed.
  • Assist with architecture review, maintenance, and support activities for WSUS patching systems.
  • Coordinate monthly Windows patch deployments as well as scheduled Linux/Unix deployments.
  • Maintain ticket queues for new patching or change requests.
  • Participate in change management for emergency patch maintenance.
  • Define and assess patching service levels and success rates.
  • Support determination of patches needed and implementation of corrective actions.

What you need to have:

  • AS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of related work experience supporting IT infrastructure, including administration, support, and implementation of servers, virtualization, security, networks, databases, and storage assets.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English.
