Summary: The Director, Data Sciences and Business Intelligence provides leadership and assumes accountability for strategy, development, implementation, and delivery of system wide clinical analytics that drive the CHRISTUS Health quality mission of 'Zero Harm.' The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of data scientists and analysts in developing, implementing, and managing advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that drive business insights and decision-making across the organization. The incumbent will work closely with executives, clinical leaders, and other key stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions that deliver insights to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services. The director will manage and develop a staff of professionals that provide the hindsight's, insights and foresights needed for success. The director will establish a strong working relationship with Information Services (IS) peers to align data lake development and architecture to analytic and reporting products developed, having expertise on big data technology platforms and databases, such as Hadoop and Teradata and analytic and application tools, such as SAS, SQL, Python, Vizient, Epic, Meditech, MicroStrategy, Power BI, and NextGen. The incumbent must be a proactive and decisive person who adapts well to, and initiates changes in analytic, application tools and program reporting and data science needs. The incumbent will be forward looking to drive opportunities for effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) analytics for improved insights in driving-data driven decision-making to identify risks while creating new opportunities for improved patient outcomes. Additionally, this role will focus on BI and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate processes and improve efficiencies. Having a global view of the organization, the incumbent can drive meaningful change that has a positive impact on the lives of patients and healthcare professionals across the CHRISTUS Health system. Responsibilities:

- Develops and executes the data science and Business Intelligence (BI) strategy while supporting data lake development for the organization, including development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions.
- Drives the use of predictive intelligence, including AI and ML to identify risks while creating new opportunities for improved patient outcomes.
- Manages data science projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality results.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies and tools to improve data science capabilities and drive innovation.
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop data-driven interventions that optimize clinical and operational performance.
- Conducts statistical inference analysis and testing to develop & evaluate data driven hypotheses and results, including analysis for leadership team to identify critical issues/questions around clinical improvements related to value-based imperatives.
- Communicates complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership and external stakeholders.
- Develops and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure alignment on data science initiatives.
- Serves as internal and external stakeholder point of contact for projects with either minimal or moderate ambiguity around the customer's objective for analytic requests.
- Develops effective communication program for delivering insights to key stakeholders via a comprehensive, standardized format detailing the methods, analysis, and conclusions, and recommended next steps.
- Stays up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data science, analytics, and RPA.
- Has effective development plans for a growing team of associates, he/she manages in their responsibilities for use and improvement of data reporting and BI systems.
- Continuously evaluates and maintains chosen analytics within the CHRISTUS Health System Office to include:
- Optimization of advance technologies for BI and data-driven decision-making
- Serves as expert statistical and technology resource
- Monitors content posted on site for appropriateness
- Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.
- Carries out other duties as assigned from time to time by the System Director Health Outcomes & Analytics.
Job Requirements: Education/Skills
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- 10+ years of experience managing large disparate data sets, including CMS data, and using quantitative and qualitative analysis to draw meaningful and valid insights, including 7 years of programming experience using SAS/SQL/Python/R/Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies.
- Experience managing a team of data scientists, analysts, and RPA and BI developers.
- Expertise in statistical modeling, data mining, and predictive analytics.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and executives.
- Experience in developing and implementing predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and other advanced analytics tools for clinical data analysis.
- Advanced skill level in statistical analytic software required, SAS/Python/SQL.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- SAS/SQL/Python certification preferred.
