Job Summary: The Undercarriage Technician 2, performs basic to broad diagnosis and repairs on heavy equipment undercarriage in a shop environment. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: * Personally models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Statement. * Performs basic to broad range repairs on equipment undercarriage and undercarriage components. * Operates undercarriage build-up and rebuild machines, and all tooling and machines used in undercarriage rebuilding. * Assist in disassembling, cleaning, inspections, repairs, and assembles undercarriage components. * Evaluates, measures, and monitors undercarriage conditions. * Works as a member of a team to provide basic to broad technical and mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals. * Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs. * Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork. * Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order. * Performs and completes all tasks with minimum supervision. * Provides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to Undercarriage Technician 1. * Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. * Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards. * Requires regular and punctual employee attendance. * Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Broad knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. * Broad knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. * Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work. * Excellent technical skills. * Verbal and written communication skills. * Must have basic cutting torch and welding abilities. * Effective influencing skills which include motivating and developing customers and employees. * Time management skills. * Critical thinking and problem solving. * Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work. * Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment. * Ability to be self-starting, self-motivated, and be a leader. * Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. * Ability to read, write, and understand information. * Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Education and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent * 1 to 3 years of heavy construction equipment experience Additional Requirements: * Must own a good assortment of tools to perform the job. * Has met HDSI requirements for tech 1, in addition to completing P.O.P. and Conflict Resolution. Supervisory Responsibilities: * None Travel: * Up to 10% travel may be required. Physical Requirements: * Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching. * Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity. * Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers. * Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. * Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. * Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment. * Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 80 lb. * Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment. Work Environment: * Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. * Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. * Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times. * Exposure to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. * Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment. * Required to perform work in cramped spaces, awkward positions and/or high places. * Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.
