Job Summary: The Machinist 4, performs all standard machining repairs on heavy equipment or components in a shop environment. Demonstrates a willingness to help in other areas when needed. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: * Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission * Demonstrates well developed technical skills and performs most standard to complex welding machine jobs and repairs * Performs all types of welding and line boring operations to manufacture, modify, and repair machine parts, equipment, and components * Lays out tasks, reads and interprets blueprints and technical publications, designs and draws working sketches * Works as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals * Performs routine operational checks on repair work and functional parts of mechanical equipment and machinery * Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs * Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order * Act as a team leader on large projects * Provides significant task and behavior-oriented supervision to other welders * Provides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other welders * Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork * Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications * Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations * Actively participates in observations and safety meetings and encourages others to do the same * Requires regular and punctual employee attendance * Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards * Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Extensive knowledge of CAT equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance * Extensive knowledge of current computer software, SIS, and ability to teach others * Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work * Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills * Effective influencing skills which include motivating and developing employees * Must have strong time management skills * Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills * Ability to quote jobs and give time frames to complete projects on schedule. * Ability to run and maintain all welding and line boring equipment efficiently * Ability to be assigned tasks and complete with minimal supervision * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work * Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and equipment to help perform the job * Ability to perform advanced welding and torch cutting, must have verifiable experience * Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated * Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures * Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects * Ability to read, write, and understand information * Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Additional Requirements:

Physical Requirements: * Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching * Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity * Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers * Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work * Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue * Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment * Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. * Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment Work Environment: * Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment * Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity * Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment * Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment * Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting * Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration * Works in confined workspaces, awkward potions, and high places * Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
