Job Description

Position Summary:
The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for leading all quality-related functions at the Gardena site. This role ensures compliance with aerospace and defense standards, including AS9100 and NADCAP, and oversees quality engineering, inspection, metrology, and EH&S programs. The position is hands-on, requiring direct involvement in audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the site's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP for Chemical Processing (CP), Heat Treat (HT), and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Act as the site lead for customer, regulatory, and NADCAP audits, including preparation, participation, and timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Supervise quality engineering, inspection, and metrology teams to ensure product and process compliance.
  • Collaborate with site leadership, engineering, and manufacturing to integrate quality requirements into daily operations and new product development.
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance through audits, corrective actions, and risk-based assessments.
  • Maintain site compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including hazard communication and waste management.
  • Track and report quality metrics, cost of quality, and performance KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support internal and external investigations, including product liability and root cause analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing AS9100 and NADCAP CP, HT, and NDT audits and corrective actions.
  • Strong background in aerospace quality systems, supplier quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to work cross-functionally and drive results.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE) and Lead Auditor credentials highly desirable.

For informational purposes only, the range for annual base salary for this role is $183000 to $210000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Executive Bonus Plan, paid out up to 30% of the applicable annual base salary, based on the Company's performance in the prior calendar year. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
