TITLE: Mechanical Technician B
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Support Mechanical Supervisor/Sr. 2 to maintain equipment/facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum two years previous experience in a manufacturing maintenance department.
- Minimum of two years previous mechanical maintenance experience required.
- Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
- Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with all written and verbal safety rules using personal protective equipment as required by department and plant safety programs.
- Follows oral and written instruction of higher management.
- Works and cooperates with other departments within the plant.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in assigned and work areas.
- Comply with all general plant rules on conduct and attendance.
- Essential to be available for overtime, call-ins and rotating schedules. Clean areas as assigned.
- Willing to learn and upgrade skill level.
- Learn and keep Profile's recycling program going.
- Always keep all Profile products clean and dirt free.
- Complete any other task assigned by Superiors.
- Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
- Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace
- Identify and fix mechanical issues in various systems and components including but not limited to gearboxes, rollers, hydraulic / pneumatic cylinders, and associated mechanical devices.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Maintain and complete all necessary forms, files and paperwork associated with the PM and work order programs.
TRAINING:
- Inteplast Basic Required Training (OSHA)
- Inteplast Basic Required Training (Safety)
- ISO Awareness - The Basics
- Forklift certification
- Manlift certification.
- On the job training from above grade levels.
AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:
- Practice and teach safe work ethics.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
- Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
- Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
- Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
- Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
- Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
- Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
- Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
- Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
- Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Example: Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.
- Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Visual acuity: Clear vision at various distances, allowing the operator to see pallets, obstacles, and other workers clearly.
- Depth perception: The ability to judge distances accurately, essential for maneuvering the forklift close to objects and aligning the forks with pallets.
- Peripheral vision: A wide field of view to detect movement on the sides and behind the forklift.
- Color vision: Ability to distinguish colors for safety signage and potential hazards.
- Pre-shift inspection: Forklift operators should always perform a visual inspection of the forklift before operating it, checking for any damage, fluid leaks, or tire issues.
- Mirrors and cameras: Utilizing additional mirrors and cameras can help improve visibility in blind spots.
