Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
UNC Greensboro, located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, is a higher-research activity university as classified by the Carnegie Foundation. Position Summary
The Training Specialist serves as a key contributor to the Learning and Organizational Development (L&OD) team within UNC Greensboro Human Resources. This position is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating professional development programs that enhance employee skills, support institutional goals, and foster a culture of continuous learning. The Training Specialist collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), campus stakeholders, and HR colleagues to apply evidence-based instructional design practices and adult learning principles in the development of blended learning solutions, including instructor-led, virtual, and asynchronous content. This role also supports project planning, marketing of LOD offerings, and measuring the impact of training programs on individual and organizational performance.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two or more years of learning and development experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering training content to a diverse audience.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of instructional design approaches (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) with the ability to assess needs, design and develop engaging learning experiences, create high-quality materials, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, organizational development, human resources, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of designing, delivering, and facilitating impactful training programs for adult learners, from concept to completion - creating original, effective courses tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Percipio, Canvas) to build, deliver, track, and report on training programs.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to connect with and engage diverse audiences.
  • Human Resources experience or familiarity with HR-related training topics is a plus and can help in creating training that supports organizational goals.
