Job Title: Lifelong Learning Coordinator (Part-Time)

Department: Academy of Lifelong Learning

Location: Alumni House

Reports To: AVP for Advancement, Alumni and Constituent Engagement

Position Overview:

The Academy of Lifelong Learning (WC-ALL) at Washington College is seeking a motivated and organized administrator to support our adult education program. This position is an excellent opportunity to work in educational administration, community outreach, and program support in a dynamic liberal arts environment. The position will serve as the central point of coordination, administration and oversight in the day-to-day operations of the Academy, providing administrative and instructional support while engaging with a diverse group of adult learners as well as championing lifelong learning within the College, it's alumni and the community at large.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Program Coordination: Collaborate with the WC-ALL Council and volunteer committees to ensure smooth program operations and alignment with member interests. Participate as a non-voting member in the WC-ALL Council meetings.
  • Registration Support: Manage course registration, including answering inquiries, entering data into registration systems, tracking enrollment numbers, and sharing rosters.
  • Instructional Support: Work with the Curriculum Committee Chair to solicit and develop course proposals. Print materials for instructors as needed and ensure A/V support is ready for programs and events.
  • Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks such as organizing spreadsheets, maintaining instructor records, and coordinating program logistics.
  • Event Assistance: Help coordinate special events or workshops, including assisting with logistics, registration, and any on-the-day event needs
  • Booking Venues: Schedule rooms for regular programming with Campus Events and coordinate venue logistics and transportation for off-site programs.
  • Inquiries and Communication: Respond to questions and inquiries from members, instructors, and potential students, providing excellent customer service and assistance.
  • Website Maintenance: Update and maintain the Academy's website to ensure accurate and current information about courses, events, and instructor profiles.
  • Social Media Promotion: Create and schedule content for Facebook to promote the Academy's offerings and raise awareness of upcoming programs.


Qualifications

Qualifications:



  • Background in program management and customer service; the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in education, nonprofit management, and community outreach.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), website content management systems, and graphic design ability through Canva or Adobe Photoshop. Ideally highly adaptable around new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including adult learners, faculty, and community members.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.



Preferred Skills and Qualities:



  • Interest in adult education, lifelong learning, or community engagement.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet management and data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.


Hours and Compensation:



  • This is a part-time, paid position, averaging 20 hours per week. Flexibility will be needed to work up to 35 hours per week, potentially including some weekend hours, in the period before and after the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
  • Pay rate: $24/hr.
