Under general supervision, serve as financial analyst, business operations assistant, and personnel coordinator for the Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC). Submit financial transactions for a variety of funding sources including general funds, contracts and grants, self-supporting activities, and gifts. Identify, research, and resolve problems as it relates to accounts payable, accounts receivables, and procurement. Perform financial analysis and planning for assigned portfolio. Responsible for pre- and post-award processes, budget preparation, analysis, and forecasting. Work closely with the Office of Research, Accounting and Financial Services, and sponsoring agencies to facilitate the timely submission and processing of funds, awards, and information. Serves as Department compliance expert for university policy and procedure related to all department financial business processes. Manage personnel hiring for graduate student and undergrad appointments. Serve as subject matter expert to TERC personnel.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Experience in financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning to analyze and compile data and reports.
- Experience in budget preparation based on narrative methodological research plans and designs, analysis, and forecasting and control complex budgets.
- Experience managing and monitoring multiple accounts with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex data.
- Experience using automated financial systems.
- Experience recognizing and responding to problems with cost recovery, invoices, accounts, and payroll and initiate timely and appropriate action to resolve them.
- knowledge to analyze the quantitative aspects of fiscal and budgetary issues, and cost allocation methods; Knowledge of federal, state, and private compliance regulations governing grant budgeting, financial reporting, cost-sharing standards, cost allocation, and policies regarding use of grant funds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating documents and projects with Business Contracts, Sponsored Programs, and Internal Audit to interpret regulations or guidelines and to recommend fiscally responsible and sound management practices.
- Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use judgement to make logical decisions.
- Interpersonal, verbal and written, communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals; secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and negotiate services and/or agreements and MOU's with other departments or external agencies.

Department Overview
The Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) is a Special Research Program under the Office of Research. The unit has affiliated faculty, professional researchers, adjunct professors, academic and staff support personnel from all colleges and schools on the UC Davis campus that collaborate on environmental issues of interest to policy makers, agency personnel and academics. TERC is located at both Lake Tahoe and on the Davis main campus. TERC is dedicated to research, education and public outreach on lakes and their surrounding watersheds and airsheds. TERC provides critical scientific information to help understand, restore, and sustain the Lake Tahoe Basin and other lake systems worldwide. TERC conducts environmental research in aquatic and terrestrial environments at Lake Tahoe, and multiple other locations throughout California and globally.
