We are currently seeking a Full-Time Upholstery Specialist to join our Jessup, MDteam. If you're highly skilled with cutting patterns and sewing upholstery fabric-and you take pride in precision and craftsmanship-this is the role for you!

Position Overview

The Upholstery Specialist will be responsible for cutting fabrics, sewing upholstery, and preparing furniture for re-upholstery with accuracy and care. This position requires strong sewing and fabric-cutting skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for producing work that meets AFR's high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut fabric and patterns precisely for upholstery and re-upholstery projects
• Operate industrial sewing machines to create strong, durable seams
• Read and interpret measurements, templates, and patterns
• Remove old coverings and prepare furniture frames for re-upholstery
• Install foam, batting, and support materials to ensure comfort and durability
• Work with a variety of fabric types, patterns, and textures
• Maintain consistent quality and craftsmanship across all projects

Qualifications

• Experience in upholstery cutting and sewing required
• Skilled in operating industrial and commercial sewing machines
• Strong knowledge of upholstery materials and techniques
• Precision, detail orientation, and ability to meet deadlines
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and move furniture as needed
