Summary The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of Duke Energy's six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. The Harris/Robinson Nuclear Plant Corporate Design Civil Engineering team manages the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio at the Harris/Robinson nuclear sites. The team collaborates with other CDE staff to ensure that high quality design solutions are delivered to meet site needs and milestone requirements. This is the entry level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this entry level solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures. They will develop Civil/Structural engineering specific solutions in support of design packages for plant equipment upgrade projects; including but not limited to scoping and development of design packages for plant modifications; pipe hanger design, structural analysis, pipe stress analysis, soil and steel/concrete structure evaluations/field support, seismic equipment qualification, and weld design and independent reviews of peer prepared engineering products.
