Job Description

This role in the Embedded Software organization is a specialized role that blends DevOps, software engineering, quality assurance and IT operations skills into one. You will be part of a team that manages tooling and infrastructure support for both software and firmware for Logix controllers.

You will report to the Manager- Software Test Engineering

Essential Functions

  • Build and maintain automation pipelines and workflows (via CI/CD solutions like Jenkins, Bamboo, custom applications etc.).
  • Create automated scripts for testing and deployment processes.
  • Managing and provisioning cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Automate security controls and configuration management.
  • Write code to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Use modern continuous integration and development tools, and promote continuous improvement of engineering tools and practices across the global development organization
  • Participate as a member of an agile team within the Scaled Agile Framework, and monitor and improve the health, predictability, and velocity of the team and the larger Agile Release Train.
  • Instrumenting applications for monitoring and logging.
  • Integrate and analyze application performance metrics and logs using tools like Nagios.
  • Experience configuring and managing Databases, VM Management, Microservices
  • Perform routine audits to ensure quality, reliability and security standards are upheld.
  • Tune and scale systems for performance.
  • Help teams establish effective metrics based on business goals.
  • Identify technical debt and minimize its impact.
  • Performing root cause analysis on defects and outages to prevent recurrences.
  • Build feedback loops for incident management.
  • Develop policies, procedures and training programs conducive to a DevOps culture.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of development cycles and operations procedures.
  • Work with individual teams to define and optimize their processes.
  • Align workflows and Objectives with business goals.
  • Partner with development, functional test, and system test personnel to construct testable requirements; design and implement test plans to meet product requirements; promote reliable automated test engineering practices and technology
  • Mentor less experienced personnel, and encourage knowledge sharing and learning among the development community

The Essentials- you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred- you might also have:

  • Typically requires 8+ years of Test /DevOps experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting customized open-source and Cloud implementations
  • Experience designing, configuring and troubleshooting testbeds and test cases.
  • Expert-level technical background in DevOps environments including Azure cloud implementations.
  • Experience using tools like qTest, GitHub, Gitlab, artifactory, Jenkins, RabbitMQ, Grafana.
  • Background in Test and Quality Engineering
  • Experience in Software or Product Development a huge plus.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley control products
  • Experience in Technical Leadership in a team environment.
  • Past technical leadership experience in an agile development setting
  • In depth knowledge of software engineering and application of engineering principles and practices in a related field
  • Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle and non-relational databases like MongoDB
