Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The role of the Finance Analyst (FA) is to perform financial analysis to aid in the financial planning and strategic management of the CFCCC.

The FA duties include assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, process financial transactions and reimbursements, and analyzing financial statements and reports. The role will partner across multiple levels of the organization and directly support Center functions, including the financial activity at the Cancer Research Institute (CRI). This is a temporary position which is expected to run through January 2026 (exact dates to be determined).

Required:

• Experience with assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, process financial transactions and reimbursements, and analyzing financial statements and reports.
• Familiar with Excel (Pivot tables) basic required (intermediate preferred).
• Experience with budget variances and/or development.
• Attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
• Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to function as a member of a team.
• Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
• 1-3 years relevant experience.

Preferred:

• Post award/grant experience.
• Higher education finance experience.

Pay Range: $30.56 - $36.28/hour

Working Hours: Part-time (50 percent/20 hours) per week and able to work Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements.Certaintemporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver's License for driving university vehicles.

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment.
