Asphalt Roller Operator - Columbia, SC

Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an individual for the position of Asphalt Roller Operator out of Columbia, SC. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively run a roller for the compaction of asphalt and/or dirt and other materials for road and commercial construction. Asphalt Roller Operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.

• Adhere to Reeves Company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment
• The ability to operate a steel wheel roller or rubber-tired roller
• Have an accurate and working knowledge of a roller
• Be able to oil, grease and fuelingof roller
• Must keep equipment clean, lubricated, and in good working order, including good housekeeping.
• Must have an understanding of control levers for movement of the machine.
• Operate roller at a good speed to maximum first compaction
• Make sure asphalt/dirt/materials is rolled to specifications of roller pattern
• Willingness to work nights and weekends
• Operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner

• 6 months to 1 year of experience
• Experience working in and around construction equipment
• Driving License (preferred)

• Employee must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses.
• Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
