Emergency Department Nurse Transition Program Looking for a chance for growth and acquisition of new nursing knowledge and skills? Our Adult Emergency Room Nurse Transition Program provides registered nurses the opportunity to transition to a position in the Adult Emergency Department. The program will provide experienced nurses the opportunity to solidify the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to provide care in our Emergency Department.
Throughout the Experienced Nurse Transition Program, we will emphasize the application of nursing knowledge and skills required for success as a transitioned Emergency Room nurse. The program offers focused, multidisciplinary classroom training, as well as a customized precepted clinical experience. Both the didactic and clinical components will emphasize the skills and knowledge base you will need to progress through the competency based orientation.
During the transition program, you will be paid your hourly rate. At the conclusion of the program, you will be placed in your final position per your offer letter. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Available positions in the Adult ED are 12hours in length and will vary depending on need after orientation. The weekend requirement for these positions will be every other weekend. Positions will be for 36 hours, permanent nights If selected for the program, RNs will be required to work varied shifts and hours during all segments of the residency program. As a result, during the orientation period there will not be any permanent nights. After completion of the orientation period, nurses will be subject to a two year commitment to the Emergency Department and will be unable to transfer to another department.
APPLICATION TIMELINE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least one year of RN experience Applicants must attach an updated resume for review. Applicants must attached a letter of intent. The letter should include why you are interested in Emergency Room Nursing, what you can offer the department, and how you practice the core values of our hospital in your everyday work as a nurse. BMC Internal Employees Only: Applicant required to attach a Professional Reference Questionnaire (from either a current or recent BMC Manager, Clinical Instructor, or BMC Colleague who can speak to your knowledge, ability, collegiality and commitment to excellence in patient care). The Professional Reference Questionnaire can be found on the BMC Nursing homepage at http://internal.bmc.org/nursing/forms/. The application packages will be reviewed and selected individuals will participate in a non-compensated training shadow experience. Such experience shall include shadowing another RN in the Emergency Room for a period of at least eight hours. Participants for the Adult ED Nurse Transition Program will be selected based on an interview in which their shadow experience will be discussed along with other factors. The expected start dates of selected Adult ED Nurse Transition Program will be offered on a monthly basis.
