 IR Seeker Engineer LOCATION: Columbia, Maryland JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Secret Clearance SALARY: $90,000-$150,000 SEG supports the US Navy and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) by performing trade studies, design prototyping, and analysis of radars, EO/IR sensors, RF seeker systems, electronic warfare systems, and weapon systems. For this position, we are seeking an experienced IR Seeker engineer to support the development of a digital representation of the IR seeker for inclusion in deliverable simulations to our government customers and end-users. The ideal candidate has 6 to 10 years of IR seeker systems engineering experience including IR seeker physical design, signal processing design and analyses, and seeker testing, and an active TS clearance. The position is based in Columbia, MD but may require on-site support at customer locations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 
 Candidates must possess at least a bachelor of science (BS) degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. Candidates must have at least 6 years of experience (4 years with a Masters, 2 years with a PhD) related to the design or analysis of electromagnetic sensors.Strong Matlab or Python skillsStrong people skills and technical leadership experience are a must.Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to learn rapidly and work independently and on a teamMust be a US citizen and be able to obtain and hold a clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS  
 Active Top Secret clearanceExperience performing IR system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysisExperience with image-based detection, track, and discrimination algorithmsExperience with the application of ML/AI algorithms to detection and discriminationFamiliarity with seeker window/dome design and nonlinear opticsFocal plane array designs and analysisGraduate-level coursework and/or hands-on project experience in IR sensors and signal processingPrior experience with sensor HW design, signal processing, tracking algorithms, and/or resource managementExperience in sensor modeling and simulation including algorithm and software developmentExperience in development of simulation tools and test tools for sensor analysis RESPONSIBILITIES 
 The candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, supporting a team of engineers and software developers to design and develop simulation solutions, and demonstrating that capability to our government customers and other critical stakeholders. Identifying and evaluating critical design points, such as seeker windows, lenses, filters, and focal plane array design, and relating these to physical design of the seeker.Designing and documenting the IR sensor concept of operations, including the modes of operation and their corresponding timelines, the operating wavebands, and scan patterns.Implementing signal processing algorithms, including detection, track, discrimination, and decision logic. #CJ  |
