Primary Duties: Maintain all Carding equipment.

Tools Required: Complete set of hand tools, necessary gauges and specialty tools, Company issued lock out/tag out, grease gun, oil cup, steel toe shoes, hand truck, ladder, hand roller picker, utility knife, cut resistant glove, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, respirator, safety glasses, brush, ear plugs, and broom.

Materials Used: Fiber, empty cans, ID bands.

Supervision Exercised: None; receives instructions from Supervisor, Yarn Mill Technical Manager, or Yarn Mill Manager.

Job Procedures:

  1. Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
  1. Repair breakdowns and perform maintenance on all Cards and Card Chutes.
  1. Perform tear downs and rebuilds on cards and card chutes.
  1. Maintain Card settings.
  1. Maintain sliver size on Cards.
  1. Select, issue, and transport bales of raw material from the Bale Warehouse to the Opening Room using the lift truck with the squeeze attachment.
  1. Re-fill the propane tank on the lift truck, as needed. Always use the required PPE for this job.
  1. Set up and monitor blend line control panels.
  1. Remove tags, chokes and laps from condensers, beaters, hoppers, and duct work to keep machines' operating properly.
  1. Inspect and clean blend line magnets.
  1. Doff re-workable waste bale from the baler
  1. Repair breakdowns and perform maintenance on all Draw Fames.
  1. Correct all machines that display a high %CV or periodic defect.
  1. Visually inspect auto levelers and sliver monitors for proper operation.
  1. Check emergency stop buttons, creel stops, and hood switches for proper operation, as scheduled.
  1. Maintain proper can builds.
  1. Maintain material identification signs.
  1. Perform style changes.
  1. Process Product Development requests.
  1. Brush cylinder and doffer wire, as scheduled.
  1. Polish bottom screens, as needed.
  1. Fill in for operators when needed.
  1. Check emergency stop buttons for proper operation, as scheduled.
  1. Perform daily visual check to ensure metal detectors are turned "ON".
  1. Maintain material identification signs.
  1. Maintain spare component inventory.
  1. Assist other Technicians when needed.
  1. Perform all other duties as directed by management.
