This position requires evening and weekend hours to support technical rehearsals.
Basic Function
Lead the lighting, audio, and projection operations of the Eisner Center for the Performing Arts and its partnership with the departments of Music, Theatre, Dance. Mentor and train a team of student technicians in the safe installation and operation of lighting, audio, and projection equipment. Collaborate with the production and design teams to determine priorities and timelines for the multiple overlapping productions, concerts, and Eisner Center events.
Essential Job Functions
Plan, prep, and install lighting plots for Theatre, Dance, and Music productions, as well as presented guest artists. Supervise the load in/out of all lighting, projection, and audio equipment. Maintain a repertory lighting plot in each of the four performance venues.
Maintain accessible inventories of lighting, audio, and projection equipment. Manage equipment rentals. Troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment is repaired or replaced as needed.
Plan and install audio equipment for live sound reinforcement during concerts and other performances. Train students in basic audio concepts including console operation, mixing and microphone techniques, and trouble-shooting equipment and set-ups.
Recruit, train, and supervise student technical theatre employees to create an open, inclusive, and educational working environment.
In collaboration with the Production Manager, evaluate lighting, audio, and projection designs and requests for timeline feasibility and cost, as well as actively plan load in and production schedules.
In collaboration with the TD -Production, ensure the proper set-up of the acoustic shell, safe use and maintenance of the pit stage lift and the automated rigging system, and the installation of soft goods, staging, and audience seating configurations. Ensure each performance space is prepared for the tech process, with the set-up of tech tables, comms, and appropriate consoles.
Collaborate with both staff and guest lighting designers. Ensure guest sound designers and/ audio engineers have the resources and information they need.
Hire and supervise additional professional technician staffing to supplement student crews. Create and maintain a list of approved vendors to perform warranty repairs and preventative maintenance.

Collaborate on and submit proposals for capital expenditures and improvements. Track and plan for production expenses for Dance, Music, and Theater, and the Eisner Center Technical budget. Coordinate with facilities services and IT on capital and network projects.
Support complex performances onsite on the evenings/weekends. Attend technical/dress rehearsals as needed.
Perform related work as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 5 years experience in a professional performing arts production environment
Ability to read and interpret theatrical drafting using Vectorworks or AutoCAD software. Knowledge of ETC networking, and Lightwright software
Knowledge of Q-lab software for playback of both audio and video in performance.
OSHA 10 Certification (or completion at hire) with additional knowledge of theatrical rigging safety.
Knowledge of protocols and procedures for the safe install, focus, and use of theatrical lighting equipment.
Understanding of digital audio networking ( DANTE), signal path, and experience with digital audio consoles. DANTE Certification before or on hire.
Demonstrated ability to work within a production team atmosphere, where multiple performances and productions overlap in the schedule and communication is key.
A strong commitment to the mentorship, training, and supervision of students.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising both undergraduate and professional crews.
Knowledge of projection technology, includes types of lenses, blending multiple projectors, and projection mapping.
ETCP Certification in Electrics or Rigging
Ability to use ProTools for audio recording and editing.
Physical Demands
There are physical demands associated with this position. Successful candidate must be able to lift 50# (fifty pounds), spend extended periods on his/her/their feet, climb a ladder, kneel, and crawl.
