Additional Locations Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Accountant II position prepares and distributes the payroll in a timely manner and ensures that all employees are paid properly. The position ensures that all changes submitted to the payroll are processed correctly. Maintains a web-based time and attendance reporting system (UKG) and provides customer service to internal customers within the business office environment. The position will be responsible for supporting accounts payable, monthly closing assignments, and ad hoc requests. The position will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement in transactional processes and internal control compliance.
Job Description
- Ensures daily and weekly tasks are completed to deliver on the execution of the entire payroll cycle.
- Tracks and reports all garnishments, weekly payroll adjustments, and other special payroll deductions.
- Maintains the UKG system for employee changes, pay rate changes and other systematic changes.
- Ensures compliance with all payrolls related items (taxes, wage and hour laws, special deductions, etc.).
- Maintains a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the payroll software. Provides guidance and cross-training to other designated personnel to ensure his/her abilities allow for immediate assumption of payroll processing responsibilities in the event of illness, vacation, etc.
- Maintains a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations.
- Provides training and daily assistance to employees and supervisors on general payroll policies and use of time and attendance system (UKG)
- Maintains a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of company payroll policies.
- Presents weekly payroll orientation for hourly, salary and salary non-exempt employees.
- Processes check requests and prepaid requests in a timely manner and distribute to appropriate personnel upon receipt.
- Maintains the accounts payable process for site including submission of invoices, PO Compliance, Vendor statement review, ensuring invoices are processed timely by Hobart team.
- Month End close adheres to Corporate and Site Standards
- Execute general accounting close responsibilities, including performing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling accounts.
- Performs weekly and month end reports as required perform other duties as assigned.
- Drive continuous improvement across the site related to preferred transactional process.
- Acts as an agent for change for the accounting function.

- Ensure the plant is in compliance with GAAP and all Company financial policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements Education / Experience / Skills:
- Minimum: Associate's degree in accounting or business or commensurate experience
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, or equivalent
- Preferred: Three (3) years of experience working in an accounting/payroll or equivalent combination required.

- Ability to determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

- Demonstrated ability to identify, initiate and retain process improvements through various available tools and technology.
- Demonstrated capability with Microsoft Office applications, intermediate skills in Excel.
- Experience with BPCS, JDE and Workday a plus.

Location: Hobart, NY Facility Hours 7:30am to 4:30pm Hybrid Non-Exempt position Must have the ability to work occasional overtime and holidays to process payroll (i.e. if Monday is company holiday)
Salary Range: $51,393 - $82,230
