Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Exploration Team Members (ETMs) will perform subsurface exploration duties using conventional drilling or in-situ testing techniques. This position is primarily to provide advance support for drill crews calling in utility locations through Sunshine 811. Then going to each site to pinpoint and flag the boring locations. Additionally, may require being onsite to coordinate with site clearing subcontractors and private utility location services. There may also be times when this role would provide support as a helper to drill crews while drilling is being conducted using drill methods that may include: auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, air rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring techniques. In-situ testing techniques may include cone penetration testing (CPT), pressure meter testing, and rock dilatometer testing. Work may also include the installation of instrumentation such as piezometers, monitor wells and inclinometers. The primary function of this role would be as an individual but may also work as part of a multiple person team on projects. ETMs will perform daily tasks including: survey and locate drilling points; conduct site reconnaissance; load/unload tooling, materials and samples; classify soil and rock samples; perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on drilling equipment, prepare internal (daily field forms) and external (DOT Logs) paperwork.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • The employee will be expected to perform the following tasks:
    • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
    • Demonstrate quality practices and acumen.
    • Provide consistent quality standards on all tasks assigned.
    • Install instrumentation and monitoring wells.
    • Perform routine repairs and maintenance.
    • Perform basic surveying, site reconnaissance, and utility clearance tasks
    • Drive all forms of on-road and off-road trucks, UTVs and drilling equipment to and from project locations.
    • Work to independently inspect and complete routine maintenance of equipment.
    • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Overnight travel may be required, ability to be out of town for multiple nights and days if needed.
  • Comfortable working in remote areas of Florida on an individual basis.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-year experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Certification and Skills:
  • Experience in
    • Mapping and Surveying
    • In-Situ test methods
    • Instrumentation Installation
    • Barge, Angle, Geotechnical and Environmental Drilling
  • Valid Class A or B commercial driver's license.
