Associate Fabricator (Shear Operator) - 1st Shift

YOU

As an Associate Fabricator - Shear Operator, you are responsible for cutting raw material for customer specified dimensions which are then put into production.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Gather work material specified on W.O., ensure all traceability information is correct. Shear material to Quality and Safety standards and stage material to be used at the next operation. (80%)

Use overhead crane, sheet and suction lift to move material (5%)

Ability to read tape measure to 1/32 tolerance and combination square to measure angles (5%)

Maintain cleanliness of area and organization of material (5%)

Read and follow written and verbal instructions. (3%)

Ability to operate manual and air powered hand tools. (2%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire) required.
• Related manufacturing experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and training preferred 1 year experience.
• Safety: able to consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating a safe work practice by promoting a safe work environment.
• Attendance: able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
• Mathematical Reasoning: able to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
• Reading Comprehension: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Problem Solving: able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Analysis/ Reasoning: able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Speaking: able to effectively communicate in group settings and one-on-one, with all departments and at all levels within the organization.
• Measurements: able to read a tape measure to 1/32" tolerance and to use combination squares to measure angles to +/- 1 degree.
• Tools: hand and power tools as well as powered industrial equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires no domestic travel.

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in McKinney, TX

PAY

$19.00 / hour
