Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Atlanta office is looking for an Engineering Technician to join the team.

Responsibilities

    Participates as part of multi-disciplinary teams assisting with the preparation of basic plan details and outlines, cost estimates, analyses, and calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the planning, design, and analysis of the built environment and of equipment, components, structures, and systems.
  • Prepares basic sketches and calculations for site plan designs (e.g., layout and grading).
  • Following standard practices, gathers and records data to be used for writing specifications.
  • Prepares routine technical reports or sections of reports.
  • Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.

Skills and Attributes

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, stormwater hydrology and hydraulics, traffic simulation) preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
  • Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.
  • Familiarity with big data applications, machine learning, and data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, PowerBI or Tableau is preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or equivalent relevant engineering experience of 1-3 years (may include co-op/internship experience)
