Job Summary:

The Department of Mathematics is seeking excellent candidates for a tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will create and maintain an impactful research program appropriate for a major research university and contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the Department of Mathematics. All areas of Mathematics will be considered.

The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science, that values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and (undergraduate student) mentoring. They will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.


Responsibilities:

The successful candidate, as a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to equity among all aspects of their teaching, mentoring, research, and service.

Standard teaching responsibility normally includes two courses in Mathematics per academic year. Courses taught will include undergraduate and graduate levels. A strong commitment to excellence in instruction is expected. Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students is required.

Faculty are expected to create and maintain a vigorous research program with widespread visibility, and are encouraged to apply for extramural funding to support their research goals.

Service activities can include departmental or university committees, engagement with communities outside of the University, and service to the broader mathematical community.

Qualifications:

Candidates for tenure-track positions should exhibit evidence of outstanding research potential, normally including significant contributions to the field beyond the doctoral dissertation. Appointment at Associate or Full Professor with tenure requires evidence of excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, mentoring, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive.
