Overview
Manager, Employee Health - 80 hours / 2 weeks - Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours with 24/7 Accountability The Manager of Employee Health is responsible for coordinating and facilitating medical and rehabilitation needs of staff with work related injuries so as to ensure appropriate utilization of services and resources, improve continuity and standardization of care and to contribute to improved partner satisfaction and outcomes. The Manager acts as a case manager for all Mercyhealth partner workers' compensation, ADA reasonable accommodation and employee health records across the clinical, psychosocial, and financial continuum. The Manager oversees the day to day activities of all Employee Health department staff and has 24/7 accountability. The Manager is responsible for the Employee Health department budget, conducting timely annual reviews, hiring, and discipline of staff. The Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining return to work - light duty programs for Mercyhealth. Additional responsibilities include tracking and reporting data on employee injuries, the cost of lost time due to these injuries, plus data on sick pay and disability costs. The Manager must also interpret federal, state, and local rules and regulations in the workers' compensation arena. The Manager is responsible for coordinating a system ergonomic assessment program and establishing a system Employee Health/Injury Prevention Committee and may also be asked to participate in the following committees: Safety, Wellness, Ergonomics, Infection Prevention, Workplace Violence Prevention, and Influenza. This is a working manager and this individual reviews all employee health work and follows up when necessary. The Manager ensures that all partners comply with Employee Health policies, reviews and assists with development of policies and procedures regarding Employee Health and is backup for the RNs when needed. Duties include assisting with all vaccinations, fit testing, TB screen readings, and blood pressures and are required to interpret vaccine requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities
Education and Experience BSN from an accredited school of nursing required. Supervisory experience preferred. Employee Health, Workers Compensation, and Fit for Duty and ADA experience preferred. Two to five years of acute care, general medical/surgical experience required Certification and Licensure Registered Nurse with WI and IL licensure (WI or IL required upon hire-must obtain the opposite within 90 days of hire) Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred Certified Case Manager (CCM) preferred Skills and Abilities Must have the ability to work collaboratively with partners, multidisciplinary health care providers and insurer and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and handle difficult situations in a professional manner. Detail oriented and capable of exploring innovative solutions to solve complex problems and address issues through the use of a combination of delivered and custom-developed tools. Ability to us Microsoft Office software including email, Word and Excel. Ability to compile, code and categorize or verify information/data. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work. Level of Supervision Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; employee adherence to annual education and certification requirements Supervises Directly supervises employees on the Employee Health and Absence teams. Indirectly supervises partners providing vaccines or fit-testing. Supervisory responsibilities are conducted in accordance with directives of management, the organization's policies, and applicable laws. Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to stand. The partner is occasionally required to walk and sit. The partner must occasionally lift and-or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to focus.
