What will you do:

The Auto Club Group is seeking aHead of FixedIncome Investmentsto join a highly collaborative Investment team focused on delivering excellent results for its clients. The role's focus is the management of fixed income assets, consisting primarily of externally managed portfolios, and managing relationships with external managers. Responsible for participating in asset allocation decisions and developing fixed income investment strategies. Accountable for leading due diligence and overseeing current and prospective investment managers and strategies. Responsible for overseeing the fixed income allocation and results, reporting on performance, and attribution of all managers and portfolios. Maintain a close connection to financial markets to share insights on market developments, drivers, and outlook with others in the group/organization. As a senior team member, the Head of Fixed Income will support the development of others, support and participate in group initiatives in a manner that aligns with the team and company values.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the Chief Investment Officer
  • Contribute to developing and refining the broader investment strategy to meet organizational objectives and constraints.
  • Think strategically about markets, portfolios, and strategies.
  • Partner with the private markets team to develop private credit strategies.
  • Improve, establish, and follow processes that relate to fixed-income asset investments.
  • Direct activities related to cash/liquidity management.
  • Evaluate portfolio performance and income attribution as compared with the plan.
  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, investment strategies, and liquidity conditions to communicate with management routinely.
  • Act as a liaison between Investments and internal constituents to communicate market information and investment results.
  • Ensure adherence to Board-approved investment policy.

Accounting and Budgeting:

This role works closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Treasury and Accounting teams. Assists with investment reporting for Schedules D and BA of the Annual Statement and other related activities to support financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, and governance-related reporting activity. Develops annual income budget and forecasts for all investment portfolio(s), and conducts monthly reconciliations of actual and budgeted investment results. Extensive interaction with internal teams for these activities and developing support within the investment team to assist with these functions are critical.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for the management of assigned team members. Mentoring and developing less experienced team members are essential components of leadership positions within the investment team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or Master's degree required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant P&C investment experience in an institutional investment environment. Investment accounting knowledge relevant to the insurance industry is preferred.
  • Experience as a Sr. Portfolio Manager, or in an investment management position for property & casualty, and life insurance, with a strong background in public core & non-core fixed income.

Relevant experience:

  • Long-term strategic asset allocation
  • Knowledge of the full quality spectrum and wide range of fixed income security types
  • Record of creating relationships and delivering solutions in complex, regulated entities
  • Performance attribution analysis
  • Staff management and development
  • Due diligence/research of asset managers
  • Managing consultant and investment manager relationships
  • Budgeting, forecasting and performance measurement for investment portfolio(s)
  • Analyzing cash flow, investment vehicles and new market opportunities
  • Bloomberg and accounting systems
  • Accounting for insurance company investments and the impact on income
