New York Institute of Technology College of Arts & Science seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow located at the Old Westbury campus.

Responsibilities

This position involves engaging in cutting-edge experiments using multiplexed synchrotron photoionization mass spectrometry and photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy. These advanced techniques will be employed to investigate complex chemical systems and processes, contributing significantly to advancements in the field of chemistry.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments using synchrotron-based photoionization mass spectrometry and photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy. Your role will include analyzing and interpreting experimental data, applying computational chemistry methods where necessary, and collaborating with team members to develop new methodologies and improve existing techniques. You will also prepare and present research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, engage in interdisciplinary research projects, and contribute to the overall goals of the research group. Additionally, you will mentor graduate students and assist in the supervision of their research activities.

Qualifications

A PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field is required. A strong background in mass spectrometry and computational chemistry is essential, and experience with synchrotron-based techniques is highly desirable but not mandatory. However, a willingness to learn and engage with these techniques is crucial. You should have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent research and publish findings, possess excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment is also important.

Preferred qualifications include experience with synchrotron photoionization mass spectrometry and photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy, familiarity with advanced data analysis software and computational tools, and a proven track record of research publications in relevant fields.

The position is available starting October 2025, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter detailing their research experience and interest in the position, a CV including a list of publications, and contact information for three professional references.

New York Institute of Technology offers numerous opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth and provides employees with a competitive compensation and benefits program inclusive of generous paid time off, holidays, tuition remission, and retirement plans with employer contributions.

New York Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer - All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
