Summary

Lead role for planning and process related tasks specifically related to teraherz equipment, internal and external process audits in paint, tracking and managing budgets, coordinating our RPP program (implementation of ideas from other paint shops and sharing our own with them), and planning necessary conveyor modifications for the introduction of new models or as part of planning projects

Responsibilities

  • Learning teraherz technology and software from company Das Nano to track Top coat related film builds, and ensure readings are in spec by working with TC application specialist and the support team
  • Coordinating manual film build readings when surface checker equipment is down by working with Quality team (QRKs) and getting additional contractor support when needed
  • Reading and understanding all PV (process standards given by central process in Wolfsburg) related to top coat applications and most importantly the ones that have to do with the teraherz technology and the reading of film builds
  • Creating specifications, evaluation quotes from technical side, and working with purchasing and finance to award projects to contractors related to the calibration of new colors in surface checker or similar project work (introduction of new models, etc..)
  • Learning basics of fanuc programming as it relates to surface checker
  • Learning basics of measuring head installed by company das Nano
  • Working with the maintenance team and IT to ensure the right rate of units is checked by the surface checker
  • Familiarizing with all past findings related to process audits, and creating process to continuously review, track, give feedback to responsible and ensure the paint shop team is compliant with process audit requirements (requires reading of several process standards)
  • Learning KSRM (creation of shopping carts), SAP (tracking of funds), and Kofax (approval of invoices) to create visual tracking (preferred Power BI) of expenditures and ensure risk related to purchasing guidelines compliance can be detected and addressed at an early stage (before becoming non compliant). Coordinating recurrent meetings to provide the manager with an overview of the expenses and risks that need to be addressed
  • Continuously evaluating good ideas implemented in other paint shops in the VW world and working on the planning and implementation of those (needs to work with peers) in the Chattanooga paint shop. Also coming up (by working with peers) with own innovative ideas for implementation and sharing
  • Working with IT, maintenance and rest of planning / process team to identify required conveyance changes when implementing new models, once identified, creating specifications, conducting technical reviews and working with finance and purchasing to award projects to contractor companies
  • Acting as back up when specific peers are not on site (PTO, sick leave, etc): PVC Process, Ecoat Sand Process, Risk Monitoring System, QMS (Document tracking), Planning Evaluations
  • Once fully trained in main activities (approx. 1 year), further training and development in the following fields: Finesse, CPP and contractor management, and Coordination of series planning topics.

Qualifications

Required



  • BS in Engineering, or equivalent job related experience
  • 10+ years of Automotive Paint Shop Job related experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word
  • Good technical writing and reporting skills
  • Experience with top coat related processes (paint development and application, evaluation of main paint coat quality kpis: color, film, structure)
  • Familiar with audit processes and tracking of points
  • Experience with budget tracking

  • German language skills
