The Infusion Pharmacy Technician 3 is a vital part of the healthcare team, specializing in preparing and dispensing intravenous (IV) medications to patients receiving infusion therapy as well as oversight of drug supplies and inventory management. This role involves practical, operational, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the safe and effective delivery of infusion medications, compliance with regulatory standards, and an elevated level of patient care.
The Pharmacy Technician 3 position provides administrative assistance to the Pharmacy Supervisor and Senior Pharmacist in the areas of training, regulatory compliance, and specialty pharmacy coordination. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
- 1 year of sterile compounding experience, including preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous compounding sterile preparations (CSPs)
- Experience using electronic medical record (EMR)
- Working knowledge of principles and applications for containment hood
- Ability to use the metric system
- Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic and brand names and abbreviations and drugs
- Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 as well as California Board of Pharmacy requirements of preparation of CSPs and handling of hazardous drugs
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- 3 years of sterile compounding experience, including preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous CSPs
- Experience with Excel and Word programs
- Ability to learn required functions on Epic and other essential computer programs
- Knowledge of hospital, department and University policies and procedures
- Strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with EPIC, Dispense Prep and chart review
- Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, DEA, and California Board of Pharmacy

We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
Department Specific Job Scope
The Pharmacy Department provides inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services. The UCD Cancer Center Infusion Pharmacy provides infusion medications for oncology and other patients who require infusion medications in an ambulatory setting. The unit provides pharmaceutical services to the Adult Infusion Center, Pediatric Infusion Center, and other ambulatory clinics with an emphasis on sterile preparation of chemotherapy and IV admixture.
