BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

To coordinate with Revenue Cycle Leaders in the analysis and root causing of all payer rejections/denials trends and present proposed solutions within University Physicians as well as other departments in order to prevent rejections/denials from occurring and obtain prompt payer reimbursement. Act as liaison with other departments to resolve reimbursement issues and provide education as needed.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

-Coordinate the audit of claims/reimbursements/reports/etc. for Medicare, Medicaid, --Campus, and related areas. Research patient record documentation and prepare letters to appeal adverse determinations in payment.
-Research reimbursement issues and writes responses to clarify or refute clinical decisions made by payers; keep appropriate staff and departments informed of applicable regulatory changes to billing and coding rules.
-Prepare and/or perform special assignments/projects, conduct feasibility studies, and perform related financial and/or clinical analysis.
-Work closely with other professionals and administrators, internal and external to the University, to analyze, root cause, and resolve reimbursement issues.
-Train/educate new University Physicians staff and perform quality monitoring
-Review and analyze aging AR and payer trends and provide feedback to staff and leadership
-Contribute information for process improvements within and outside of Patient Accounts Dept.
-Act as administrator for payer websites for existing and new staff
-Regularly attend Department Meetings and present information as needed

Shift

Shift Type: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: Yes

Position is eligible for the University Physicians work from home program.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Certified Procedural Coder is preferred.
Additional Training: Prefer a candidate with extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and Commercial payors for Medical, Behavioral Health, Dental, and Vision programs.

Hiring Range: $52,915.20 - $83,408.00
Grade: GGS-9E
