Job Summary:



Nature of Work:

The Research Scientist is responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models, deep learning architectures, and statistical methods to address complex problems across various domains. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and optimize AI-driven solutions while contributing to cutting-edge research through publications in peer-reviewed journals. The Research Scientist works with large-scale datasets, conducts experiments to validate hypotheses, and refines algorithms for efficiency, scalability, and interpretability. The ideal candidate is expected to stay at the forefront of AI advancements, integrate emerging technologies into research, and contribute to the translation of AI innovations into real-world applications. An active participation in teams designing research projects and clinical trials as well as in report writing and publications is expected.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Contribute to clinical trial and protocol design
  • Contribute to proposals and grant writing
  • Design and implement machine learning models, deep learning architectures, and statistical methods to address complex challenges across various domains with a focus on multi-omics datasets.
  • Develop and optimize AI-driven solutions in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, specifically clinical researchers and bioanalytical scientists, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Conduct experiments, analyze results, and refine algorithms for improved performance, interpretability, and robustness.
  • Work with large-scale datasets, applying data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies, methodologies, and industry trends to drive innovation.
  • Translate research insights into real-world applications, collaborating with engineering teams for deployment and integration.
  • Liaising with laboratories and clinical researchers regarding data transfer and research findings
  • Collaboration with quality assurance and resolution of queries
  • Assistance in data management and analysis
  • Assistance in compiling reports
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Assistance in regulatory submissions
  • Sponsor and site communications




Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. in data science, computational biology, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in artificial intelligence research, machine learning development, or a related computational research setting is required.
  • Substitution: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to two (2) years.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with AI/ML applications in scientific research, such as bioinformatics, computational modeling, or data-driven discovery.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in artificial intelligence research, machine learning development, or a related computational research setting.
  • Previous first or senior author publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals relevant to the field.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++, with experience using AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design experiments and interpret complex results.
  • Knowledge of high-performance computing, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to publish research findings and present technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams, adapt to evolving research challenges, and contribute to both theoretical and applied AI advancements

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$110,000 to $120,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
