PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Process Engineer (PE) is responsible for providing technical leadership to the plant, to safely increase efficiencies, improve product quality, advance capacity, reduce costs, and assure environmental compliance. This position will focus on initiating and implementing technical improvements, preventing and resolving technical problems, assessing process capabilities, deploying process stability initiatives, eliminating losses, and executing productivity gains that align with the goals of the Insulation business (ISB). A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective previous leadership experiences and will have the opportunity to continue to develop leadership skills in this role. The PE shares best practices with ISB Manufacturing Support and other plants and implements process improvements developed by ISB Technical, ISB Manufacturing Support, or other plants. Reports to: Plant Technical Leader Span of Control: All manufacturing processes and products of the plant or assigned process area. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Driving a Strong Safety Culture * Live the OC Safety Stand and adhere to Employee Safety Responsibilities. * Utilize technical knowledge to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. * Leading and supporting safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries. Provide Technical Leadership for Products, Processes, and Equipment
Partnership with Cross-Functional Stakeholders & Mentorship for Technical Team * Provide consultation to plant operations regarding technical issues-recommend corrective actions and troubleshooting approaches.
* Growing technical talent through ongoing mentoring of Manufacturing Engineers (MEs) and Manufacturing Leadership Program (MLP) participants. * Act as Development Coach for MLPs and Interns, creating the appropriate developmental experience and assuring the program outcome is achieved. JOB REQUIREMENTS MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline. * 3 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Proven results in driving product and process improvement in a manufacturing environment through but not limited to the application of Total Productive Maintenance Focused Improvement Pillar methodologies. * Training and development of junior level engineers and/or engineering interns. * Previous or current work experience in a Union labor environment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Utilization of OC data systems and software coupled with appropriate problem solving and statistical methods to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs. * Strong problem solving and analytical skills. * Ability to manage time and multi-task. * TPM Focused Improvement Pillar experience * Knowledge of centerlines and SPC (Statistical Process Control) * Effective and impactful verbal and written communications to all levels of the organization * Implementation of strategic operational plans * Business and financial acumen * Strong planning, resourcing, and delegation skills * Customer focused. * Ability to achieve results quickly both individually and through teams. * Ability to travel 10% About Owens Corning Owens Corning is a residential and commercial building products leader committed to building a sustainable future through material innovation.
