Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

THE SANITATION LEAD IS TO ENSURE THE EXECUTION OF SANITATION WITHIN ALL PLANT FOOD PROCESSING AREAS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER AND REMAIN IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL RULES, REGULATIONS, AND LAWS. KEEPS WORKING AREA AND EQUIPMENT IN PROCESSING FACILITY CLEAN, AND SANITARY FOR PRODUCTION. WORKS IN A LEAD CAPACITY OVERSEEING WORK OF SANITATION TEAM. PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL DUTIES):

  • COORDINATES WITH MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND OTHER SANITATION CREW THE DISMANTLING OF PRODUCTION LINE AND EQUIPMENT IN PREPARATION FOR CLEANING.
  • DIRECTS AND COORDINATES ALL DAILY SANITATION ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE PROCESSING PLANT AS WELL AS THE GROUNDS SURROUNDING THE PROCESSING PLANT.
  • ENSURES THAT STAFF ARE INFORMED OF COMPANY SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND THAT SAFETY IS A PRIORITY IN DAY TO DAY FUNCTIONS.
  • ADHERES TO ALL CGMP, GFSI, AIB, FDA, SQF, FSMA AND HACCP PROCEDURES THAT RELATE TO CLEANLINESS, FOOD SAFETY AND PEST CONTROL WITH THE FACILITY. SUPERVISES SANITATION TEAM TO ENSURE ALL PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED.
  • PROMOTES A SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT THROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE SANITATION PROGRAM AND COMMITMENT TO A SAFE WORK PLACE FOR ALL.
  • DISASSEMBLES AND REASSEMBLES THE PRODUCTION LINE AND EQUIPMENT AS NECESSARY FOR CLEANING.
  • CLEANS THE FLOORS OF ALL DEBRIS AND RINSES THOROUGHLY.
  • CLEANS AIR LINES AND HOSES THAT FEED THE LINES.
  • REMOVES AND REPLACES EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED TO ACCOMMODATE PRODUCTION SET-UP REQUIREMENTS.
  • SANITIZES PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT IN PREPARATION FOR MAINTENANCE AND PRODUCTION SET-UP CREWS.
  • CLEANS AND SANITIZE ALL PIECES OF EQUIPMENT.
  • CLEANS CHEMICAL ROOM, PROCESS FLOOR DRY GOODS AREA, RESTROOM AND OTHER WORK AREAS.
  • CLEANS WASH BUCKETS, TRASH CANS, HAND RAILS, AND OTHER EQUIPMENT ASSIGNED BY LEAD OR MANAGER UNTIL SHIFT ENDS.
  • REMOVAL OF PRODUCTION WASTE (GARBAGE AND RENDER) AT SOME LOCATIONS.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK AROUND AND CLEAN A VARIETY OF INGREDIENTS INCLUDING WHEAT, SOY, DAIRY, EGGS, FLOUR, AND ALL OTHER INGREDIENTS WITHIN THE JC, LLC FACILITIES AT THE NORTH AND SOUTH LOCATIONS.
  • TRAIN SANITATION PERSONNEL IN BEST PRACTICES, SAFETY, TO UNDERSTAND "CURRENT" SDS AND HAZCOM INFORMATION, AND THE PROPER USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT.
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR DAILY SCHEDULING AND EFFICIENT RESOURCE ALLOCATION. RESPONSIBLE FOR FILLING OUT DAILY SANITATION LOGS, PERFORMANCE REPORTS AND SHIFT PAPERWORK.
  • AS PART OF THE PLANT LEADERSHIP TEAM, PROVIDES EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION AND PARTNERSHIP WITH THE QUALITY CONTROL AND PRODUCTION DEPARTMENTS.
  • COORDINATES THE COMPLETION OF ALL REQUIRED SANITATION OR MAINTENANCE REQUIRED BY THE MASTER SANITATION SCHEDULE, AND/OR END OF WEEK SANITATION ACTIVITIES.
  • MONITORING FORMS, RECORDS, AND DOCUMENTATION TO COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS.
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
  • MAY BE TRAINED TO WORK ON A VARIETY OF EQUIPMENT.
  • MAY BE ASSIGNED ADDITIONAL DUTIES WHICH MAY INCLUDE JANITORIAL DUTIES IN THE PLANT.
  • MAY SCHEDULE/ASSIGN PERSONNEL.
  • MAY SCHEDULE SANITATION PLAN (OR ASSIST ON SCHEDULING OF SANITATION PLAN).
Requirements

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • ABILITY TO READ AND COMPREHEND SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS, SHORT CORRESPONDENCE, AND MEMOS.
  • ABILITY TO WRITE SIMPLE CORRESPONDENCE.
  • ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY PRESENT INFORMATION IN ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP SITUATIONS TO CUSTOMERS, CLIENTS, AND OTHER EMPLOYEES OF THE ORGANIZATION.
  • ABILITY TO ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY, AND DIVIDE IN ALL UNITS OF MEASURE, USING WHOLE NUMBERS, COMMON FRACTIONS, AND DECIMALS.
  • ABILITY TO USE A VARIETY OF HAND TOOLS, ORGANIZE AND COORDINATE WORK WITH OTHERS, EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE JOBS AND ASSIGNED TASKS, WORK UNDER PRESSURE, AND POSSESS BASIC MECHANICAL COMPREHENSION.
  • AT SOME LOCATIONS, MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING AND MAINTAINING REPORTS, THEREFORE A GREATER COMPREHENSION OF WRITTEN INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTION AND THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE BOTH WRITTEN AND VERBAL REPORTS.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A HIGH-SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED, OR THREE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE SANITATION FIELD.(REQUIRED)
  • ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN FOOD SCIENCE, QUALITY ASSURANCE, SANITATION OR PEST CONTROL
  • LICENSE/CERFICATIONS IN PEST CONTROL AND AIB SANITATION PRACTICES
  • A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE IN FOOD SANITATION OPERATIONS, PROCEDURES, CHEMICALS AND PROGRAM STANDARDS, PREFERABLY IN A GENERAL FOOD OR MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WHILE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THIS JOB, THE EMPLOYEE IS REGULARLY EXPOSED TO MOVING MECHANICAL PARTS. THE EMPLOYEE IS FREQUENTLY EXPOSED TO WET AND/OR HUMID CONDITIONS, HEAT AND EXTREME COLD. THE EMPLOYEE IS OCCASIONALLY EXPOSED TO HIGH, PRECARIOUS PLACES; FUMES OR AIRBORNE PARTICLES; TOXIC OR CAUSTIC CHEMICALS; OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS; RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND VIBRATION. THE NOISE LEVEL IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT IS USUALLY MODERATE. AN OFFICE SPACE; WORKING COMPUTER, TELEPHONE, DESK, AND CHAIR AS NEEDED TO COMPLETE ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS. ENTER AND WORK WITHIN TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENTS OF -10 TO 85 DEGREES. SOME ASSIGNMENTS MAY INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO NOISE, CHEMICALS, BIOHAZARDS, AND VARIOUS FORMS OF RADIATION. SOME ASSIGNMENTS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF DIZZINESS, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, OR LOSS OF BALANCE. WORKING CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL FOR A PLANT MANUFACTURING FOOD. FOOD SAFETY PRACTICES ARE FOLLOWED AND UPHELD TO THE FULL EXTENT. WORK WILL INVOLVE LIFTING OF RAW MATERIALS, FINISHED CASES OF BREAD, AND INGREDIENTS. ALL EMPLOYEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A SLIP RESISTANT SAFETY STEEL TOE SHOE.

WHILE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THIS JOB, THE EMPLOYEE IS REGULARLY REQUIRED TO STAND; WALK; USE HANDS TO FINGER, HANDLE, OR FEEL AND REACH WITH HANDS AND ARMS. THE EMPLOYEE IS OCCASIONALLY REQUIRED TO SIT; CLIMB OR BALANCE; STOOP, KNEEL, CROUCH, OR CRAWL AND TALK OR HEAR. THE EMPLOYEE MUST REGULARLY LIFT AND /OR MOVE UP TO 10 POUNDS, FREQUENTLY LIFT AND/OR MOVE UP TO 25 POUNDS AND OCCASIONALLY LIFT AND/OR MOVE UP TO 70 POUNDS. SPECIFIC VISION ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THIS JOB INCLUDE CLOSE VISION, DISTANCE VISION, PERIPHERAL VISION, DEPTH PERCEPTION AND ABILITY TO ADJUST FOCUS.
