POSITION FUNCTION & SCOPE:

The Production Supervisor will work with the Manager, Shift Operations and Production Management team to maximize production and ensure the quality of the finished product. The direct area of responsibility shall be assisting the Manager, Shift Operations Manager in the assigned Department. Provide direction and leadership to full-time mechanical employees and conduct Del Monte Operational Excellence (Continuous Improvement) Team meetings. Planning and implementing capital projects shall be of major importance due to the time restraints placed on the facility by its products. In the non-processing season, assigned tasks by Shift Supervisor shall be dealt with in a professional and timely manner. This position will be expected to work off shifts (2nd or 3rd) and weekends during the processing season (July through October/November) as needed. The remainder of the year is primarily a day shift Mon-Fri.

FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Ensure product safety through development, review and enforcement of company policy.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and corporate food safety regulatory standards.
• Review and enforce company quality standards provided by facility, regional and corporate quality authorities.
• In the absence of the Director, Production the following staff will be responsible for Product Safety, Food Security, Product Legality and Product Quality: SR Manager, Production or Manager, Shift Operations.
• Maintain the quality standards set by Del Monte Foods.
• Responsible for Quality record review and ability to handle proper procedure with deviations.
• Guide and direct seasonal workforce.
• Assist in raw product delivery, processing, and storage.
• Assured production records are kept accurately in a timely and honest manner.
• Make safety a top priority among all employees in an effort to reduce injuries by introducing a behavioral based safety model.
• During the non-processing season maintenance execution shall be the main priority.
• Ordering and receiving machinery and/or parts as needed.
• Provide guidance for work priority for full-time and seasonal employees.
• Become familiar with planning and implementing capital projects.
• Provide leadership for Continuous Improvement Team meetings during the off season.
• During the processing season oversee production for the given shift assigned.
• Provide support to assigned and other departments during off season maintenance pertaining to man hour tracking, parts ordering, and supervision.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Management, Food Science
• Required: Minimum 6 months to 1 year supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Required: Minimum 1 year of production experience
• Experience managing/coordinating a behavioral based safety process.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working knowledge of industrial safety.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills for working with a range of backgrounds and interests.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions and be self-directed.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within general company guidelines.
