Job Description

The Compensation Analyst III is responsible for providing direct analytical support for the development and execution of compensation and performance programs and projects to ensure competitive, compliant, and rewarding compensation for Mercury. This position will provide analytical, reporting, and communication support and will collaborate with business and Human Resources stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Acts as a main contact for day-to-day compensation matters, including monitoring and answering compensation and performance-related inquiries
  • Conduct job evaluations and analysis of jobs, compensation benchmarking of base salaries, short-term and long-term incentives to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and ensure compliance with FSLA
  • Assists in the development and implementation of salary administration, compensation policies, and variable pay plans (e.g., merit, annual incentives, bonuses, awards, etc.) for salary administration, including policy review and pay structure development
  • Provide pay ranges and recommendations for new hire offers, promotions, and job changes
  • Compiles salary survey submission files, performs global job matching, ensuring accurate market data and internal data validation. Responsible for auditing data on a regular basis
  • Assist in the development and updating of Mercury job descriptions
  • Collaborate with Legal, Accounting, and Tax to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Assist in developing and maintaining procedures intended to maintain data integrity
  • Participate in periodic pay equity and broad base pay studies, provide reports and data for projects
  • Produce ad hoc analyses based on business requests
  • Provide advice to HR Business Partners, Recruiters, and leaders on pay decisions, policy, incentive practices and guideline interpretation
  • Support performance programs (e.g. goal setting, performance calibrations, ratings distribution, etc.)
  • Collaborate with business and HR stakeholders to ensure performance differentiation
  • Administer the annual performance and compensation cycles, including collaborating with internal HRIS and external vendor to execute smooth and accurate performance and compensation cycles
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain complex Excel reports and models to support data analysis
  • Act as back up of equity award administration and reporting
  • All other duties as assigned



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent field from an accredited college or university
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in Human Resources


  • Experience conducting compensation benchmarking using market surveys (e.g., Radford, Mercer, WTW) to analyze competitive positioning and support job offers, promotions, and pay structure reviews.
  • Familiarity with job architecture principles, including leveling, titling, and job family frameworks to support career pathing and pay equity.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, basic modeling) for analyzing large data sets and building compensation tools and models.


  • Must have advanced-level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and execute quickly and efficiently
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to succinctly summarize insights
  • Ability to work well with multiple, changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Aerospace/Defense & Manufacturing environment a plus


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) course work or certification preferred
  • ADP experience preferred
