Position Summary:



Reporting to the chair of the Jewish Studies Department at Stern College, the Instructor, Jewish Studies serves as an instructor in the department, a research assistant to the director of the Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Study (GPATS), and a mentor to less experienced students in in GPATS and the Stern College Beit Midrash. The position participates in meetings and other entry-level services to the Stern College Jewish Studies Department.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Teach six courses per year in Talmud, Jewish Philosophy, or other areas as assigned within the Stern College Jewish Studies Department
  • Serve as a research assistant to the GPATS director
  • Mentor less experienced students in the GPATS program and the Stern College Beit Midrash
  • Participate in faculty meetings and entry-level service within the Stern College Jewish Studies Department.



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Master's Degree
  • Experience teaching undergraduates



Skills & Competencies:




  • Instructional Experience with undergraduate students
  • Ability to read Hebrew and decipher Hebrew texts fluently
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, including Banner and Canvas
