Environmental Field Technician

GFT is seeking a Environmental Field Technician to join our Environmental Team in Madison, WI on an hourly and temporary basis.

What you'll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated environmental professional with demonstrated expertise in environmental groundwater and soil sample collection, remediation system operation and maintenance, as well as coordination with contractors, state and local agencies, and laboratories.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Communicating with a project team, directing subcontractors in the field, and understanding written plans / procedures.
• Composing short field reports documenting site conditions and site activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Understanding and implementing a Health and Safety Plan.

What you'll bring to our firm:

• 0-3 years of experience as an environmental field specialist or scientist.
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience conducting groundwater, soil and vapor sampling at environmentally impacted sites.
• Experience with field analytical equipment and the collection/preservation of soil, groundwater, and vapor samples.
• Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
• Experience and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for learning and motivation for growing.
• Ability to work with basic hand and power tools and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues in the field.
• Ability to navigate in the field using maps.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, travel overnight, commute to field sites, and work outdoors in inclement weather and at construction sites.
• Valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.

What we prefer you bring:

• Familiarity with state and federal regulatory groundwater and soil sampling SOPs.

• AutoCAD (Computer Aided Design) experience and/or ability to receive training and utilize knowledge efficiently and effectively.

Compensation:

The range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
