Description

Position Overview:

As a transportation Safety Specialist, your primary responsibility is to ensure that the company complies with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as they pertain to internal fleet drivers and equipment.

Qualifications:



  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State DOT Regulations
  • Minimum of 3 years or related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of FMCSA driver qualification standards and regulations
  • Strong leadership and organization, with the ability to direct and achieve priorities, goals, and strategies with limited supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and other documents
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and typical production software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • May work at various locations and conditions may vary



Responsibilities:



  • Work closely with DOT Compliance Manager
  • Ensuring adherence to DOT regulations and standards related to transportation
  • As a DOT Transportation Specialist, you will be drivers and assure you that they are following DOT Compliance including:
  • All aspects of standardization for the following, Vehicle Inspections, Hours of Service, and Driver training,
  • Coordination with the field to conduct pre-post trip inspections training, ELD Training, and Driver Evaluations
  • Lead transportation compliance with the following responsibilities
  • Work with Field Operations and drivers to ensure compliance with Federal and State DOT regulations are being met.
  • Conduct internal audits that vehicles have all required documentation
  • Review pending and upcoming changes to Federal & State DOT regulations with the field to ensure the Company is prepared for future compliance requirements
  • Work with Field Operations and Safety Team to support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of action items, and leverage learning across organization for all vehicle accidents involving CMV's
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Perform work safely and effectively
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines
  • Work some weekends and travel as required
