Overview
The Chief Data Officer (CDO) will serve as the primary executive of Stratum's Data Services Organization, responsible for transforming a successful proof-of-concept into a sustainable, high-performing enterprise function. The CDO will be both a strategic architect and hands-on leader, tasked with building and leading a team to expand a modern, cloud-native data ecosystem that powers value-based care, performance benchmarking, clinical research, and payer analytics across independent physician groups. Qualifications Certifications: , Education: Master's Degree: Related Field; Master's Degree: Health Informatics, Work Experience: Analytics; Healthcare data reporting; Information technology leadership; Data analytics Responsibilities Establish and scale the Data Services Organization as a core business unit within the MSO and build trust and alignment across MSO shareholder groups, internal teams and external partners Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, analysts, and informaticists Expand and optimize the existing cloud-based data warehouse integrating EHR, PM, HIE, and claims data Guide architectural decisions on interoperability, security, and scalability Ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOC2 Type II, HITRUST, and other relevant frameworks Develop robust data quality, lineage, and primary data management practices Lead the evolution of self-service analytics, dashboards, and embedded insights across multiple healthcare domains Collaborate with stakeholder groups to ensure output meets clinical, operational, and financial needs Maintain a balance of centralized governance and localized customization Shape and deliver the DSO roadmap in alignment with board-approved strategy Evaluate and pursue strategic partnerships (e.g., life sciences, digital health, AI) to extend DSO impact Lead the design of scalable operating models (subscription tiers, shared services, strategic support) Translate analytic capabilities into scalable, usable products - dashboards, APIs, service offerings - designed with clinic, executive, and partner needs in mind Apply operations research techniques and workflow modeling to uncover inefficiencies, design improved processes, and guide data-driven interventions Monitor platform adoption, data pipeline health, and user satisfaction across all participating groups Represent the DSO at executive forums, board meetings, and strategic planning sessions Deliver quarterly updates to the MSO board and data planning committee Manage DSO budgets, cost allocations, and ROI tracking Full P&L responsibility for all aspects of the business unit's financial performance, including revenue generation, expense management, and profit maximization About Us Find it here. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $84.57per hour - $145.46per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
