Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Material Controller, supporting TOS II, at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA (NFAC). The Material Controller will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal candidates only. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

Job Summary

The Material Controller is responsible for coordinating material planning and procurement to ensure project needs are met efficiently at the NFAC location. This role serves as the main point of contact for material status, working closely with project teams to expedite orders and support project schedules. This position reports directly to the Business Operations Manager.

Job Duties:

    Performs material planning and coordination activities at the assigned BNH branch location.
  • Serves as the focal point for all material required to support the assigned project.
  • Works with the task or project teams in the planning, selection, and expediting material required for the assigned project.
  • Monitors the progress of items to be procured and expedites both internally and externally to ensure required material and equipment are available when needed and keeps the project team informed of the status of procurements.
  • Ensure the project team is informed of the status of procurement activities required for the project.
  • Works with the project team to plan the required procurements to ensure they will support the project schedule and are cost effective within material discipline of responsibility to ensure the accurate reporting of material and equipment statuses.
  • Ensures material requirements are included in the planning phase of work activities.
  • Identifies items readily available from inventory sources for non-inventory items.
  • Provides lead time information for items to be procured, interfaces with Acquisitions to ensure need items are delivered to support planned work activities.
  • Continuously performs priority allocations to ensure material availability well in advance of installation requirements.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with BNH Purchasing, Project Controls, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and other site organizations to ensure needed material is available to support ongoing activities.
  • Ensure material required to support the activities of the branch are the correct quality and quantity, are appropriately specified in a timely manner, are obtained at a reasonable cost, and are available when needed.
  • Works with the task or project teams early in the planning process to ensure material selection is the most effective for the project and helps determine the methodology that will be used to obtain the required material.
  • Participates in work activity planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities.
  • Determines if items are available in the current inventory can be obtained from existing agreements, or if a new procurement is required.
  • Develops plans for procurements with the Acquisitions team that ensures the project material/equipment is available when needed.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • S./B.A. degree in Business Management or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the local area network.
  • Current U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both AEDC and supplier personnel.
  • Proficient in organizing tasks for completion by an agreed deadline.
  • Knowledge of Procurement operations related to the acquisition of materials and equipment, or of the Engineering discipline within the area of responsibility, the work process, and the deliverables produced (must have a basic knowledge of the other).
  • Knowledge in the use of types of material management databases, including drawing takeoff input, work planning, input of requisitions for goods and services.
  • Knowledge of purchasing requirements for purchasing goods on a BNH company credit card.
  • Knowledge of the process of generating releases for items that can be obtained on a blanket agreement.
  • Knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and other outside data systems and how those impact a material management databases.
  • Knowledge of work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Solid understanding of Governmental Contracts and the flow-down of applicable FAR clauses and requirements.
  • Active secret security clearance
