Younker 5 is a 22 bed Renal, Transplant, and Urology unit specializing in medical surgical patients. We have the only transplant center in Central Iowa and take pride in caring for this specific patient population. Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works with providers, nursing, and patient care techs to help support patient care needs on the inpatient med/surg unit. In coordination and as delegated by the nurse, the CMA may complete the following tasks, but not limited to taking patient vital signs, performs dressing changes, passes non-controlled and non-intravenous medications, and supports admission and discharge tasks on the unit.

Qualifications

	Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.	Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education:	High School graduate or GED equivalent Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. OR Graduate of a registered apprenticeship program with 2 years of clinical experience. OR Graduate of an online program or on the job training program with 3 years of clinical experience.
Experience:
License(s)/Certification(s):	Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant * Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire * Mandatory Reporter
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:	Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Multicultural sensitivity. Critical thinking skills using independent judgement in making decisions.
Other:	Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals. Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes.
