Job Summary

As a Senior Flavorist, you will independently develop innovative and profitable flavors aligned with strategic, regulatory, and compliance goals. You'll collaborate with global R&D to leverage IFF technologies, while partnering cross-functionally with GRA, FAD, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams. In addition to leading technical creation, you'll mentor junior flavorists and contribute to talent development. This role reports to the Director of Global Creation - Technical Flavors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognized as a global technical expert within the organization, consistently contributing at a high level across regions.
  • Actively expands expertise in flavor chemistry and related scientific domains.
  • Proactively explores new molecules and identifies areas for targeted technical improvement.
  • Demonstrates emerging specialization in a specific tonality or technology, with deeper expertise to be developed further.
  • Successfully manages increased commercial project workload while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Applies scientific rigor and structured methodology to solve complex raw material and manufacturing challenges.
  • Collaborates closely with Operations to enhance process efficiency and minimize quality variability in production.
  • Understands and adapts formulations to regional taste preferences and cultural differences.
  • Engages with key regional and global customers to gather insights, fulfill requirements, and strengthen relationships.
  • Builds and leverages a broad internal and external network to share knowledge and explore collaborative opportunities.
  • Partners with Portfolio Managers and Applications teams to develop flavors that address gaps in the commercial flavor portfolio.
  • Collaborates with R&D teams on relevant technical projects and innovation initiatives.
  • Interfaces with Ambassadors and/or IPDs (Innovation & Product Development) to align on project goals and execution.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences) required; Master's degree preferred in Food Technology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Food Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

  • 11+ years of experience in flavor creation and development.

  • Progressed internally from IFF Flavorist Level II or joined from an equivalent level at a competitor.

  • Recognized as a globally established technical expert within the organization.
